La manifattura più antica del mondo: due giorni alla John Smedley

Ultimo aereo, ultimo viaggio, ultima meta. Lunedì 5 novembre siamo partiti alla volta di Matlock, paesino immerso nella meravigliosa campagna inglese, più precisamente situato nel Derbyshire, luogo dove ha sede John Smedley, storico maglificio inglese. L’esperienza è stata unica e speciale; in azienda abbiamo avuto l’occasione di affiancare i responsabili di ogni area produttiva e commerciale, che ci hanno mostrato una realtà diversa da quella a cui siamo abituati. Grazie alla grande disponibilità di tutti, abbiamo imparato molto e ci siamo resi conto dell’importanza della storia aziendale che connota il prodotto ed accompagna le innovazioni; i punti di forza che abbiamo riscontrato sono sicuramente la valorizzazione e l’importanza della tradizione. John Smedley inizia la sua attività nel 1784 e ancora oggi produce indumenti a maglia di alta qualità, mantenendo però un’impronta artigianale. Tornati in Italia, siamo pronti per iniziare i nostri “field project”. Ringraziamo tutto lo staff di John Smedley per l’opportunità che ci è stata data.

Last plane, last trip, last destination. Monday, November the 5th, we left for Matlock, a village located in the wonderful english countryside, more precisely in the Derbyshire region; this is the place where John Smedley, the historical knitwear factory, is located. The experience has been unique and special; during our visit we had the opportunity to support the managers of each production and commercial area, who showed us a completely different reality from the one we were used to. Thanks to the great availability of everyone, we learned a lot and we realized the importance of the history of the company, that characterizes the product and supports the innovations; the importance of the tradition is certainly the strength of this great mill.

John Smedley began his activity in 1784 and today it still produces knitted garments of high quality, always giving a lot of importance to the craftmanship.

We are now going back to Italy and we are ready to start our "field projects".
